Our Company is one of the prominent seed companies in Africa and has been instrumental to the ongoing seed revolution in west Africa. We have set a pace for attaining a home-grown African green revolution by attaining 10,000 metric tons of certified seed production capacity. Maslaha Seeds Ltd was the first to achieve this target among Seventy Seven (77) Seed Companies in Africa and two years earlier than the set target (December 2015) by Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA).
We have been running Out-grower Scheme where we distribute Farm Inputs to Farmers as Loan, payable in kind at the end of the Farming Season as part of our strategy to assist Farmers to boost their production and yield per Hectre.
Since the company’s inception in 2006, we have been expanding our out-grower scheme from Talatan Mafara, Dansadau, Zurmi, Shinkafi and Gusau in Zamfara State to Kurami, Layin Dan Auta and Rafin Iwa in Katsina State, Kayawa in Kaduna State and Ciromawa in Kano State. We are now in Argungu Emirate, Kebbi State. We have a total of close to 3,000 farmers cultivating not less than 50,000 hectres of different types of arable crops.
In our response to President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s Policy of attaining self sufficiency in Food Production and our Out-Grower Scheme expansion program, we have distributed some Farms inputs to Rice Farmers to Support Dry Season Farming in Argungu Emirate of Kebbi State.
The event took place at the Emir’s Palace on 23rd February, 2017 where the Emir HRH Alh Samaila Muhammadu Mera and MASLAHA SEEDS Chairman, Senator Saidu Dansadau,Emir’s Councillors and District Heads distributed the inputs to the Farmers. The Inputs distributed were:
1. NPK Fertalizer
3. Pumping Machines 2 and 3 Inches and
4. Cash to support cost of farm management.
Under the Maslaha Seeds Farmer-support program in Argungu Emirate farmers are expected to cultivate Four Hundred and Fifty Seven (457) Hectres of Rice.
In his Speech during the occasion, Chairman of the Company Senator Saidu Dansadau told farmers that this is a pilot scheme and in the next 3 years Maslaha Seeds plan to support 2000 farmers where 5000 hectres of Rice will be cultivated. He as well assured farmers that the his company will be the up taker of their Rice.
In his part, the Emir of Argungu urged the beneficiaries to be trust worthy and keep to the terms and conditions of Maslaha Seeds free-interest loan scheme. He express profound gratitude to the company for its kind assistance to Argungu Emirate farmers and hoped that the company will extend this kind gesture to other parts of the State. Maslaha Seeds, according to His Royal Highness is the first company to provide this kind of assistance to the farmers. He finally urged farmers to pay the loan as and at when due.
